one chance one earth
Artist Statement
‘Terra the Elephant’ and ‘Sky the Gorilla’ are a part of a series of paintings for a larger project I’m working on since 2022. When completed in 2024 they will be a center support for an installation titled ‘ONE’.
In my paintings I’m trying to visualize the soul of animals. These stare at you in a way that it creates an instant bond. This hopefully will find a way to a place in your hearts.
The daily task of finding food, shelter and safety is a basic instinct for all animals. From the smallest to the largest animals the desire for life is similar strong alike to humans. But is this all just a basic instinct?
I strongly believe that any living creature has a soul. If conscious or not it is love that derives from it.It is the love to these animals that is important to be remembered in any step we plan to enrich our own life.
Unfortunately we humans seem to forget all to often that this bond is a basic fundament to preserve a sustainable bio-diversity on earth.Unlike any animal we humans are capable of fully understand the outcome for our future but knowingly we make to many decisions that are leading to the exploitation of our mother earth.
Every year on earth more than 200 species going instinct. It is our responsibility to make conscious decisions so that ‘Terra the Elephant’ and ‘Sky the Gorilla’ not become little more than a pixelated image on our computer.
